Kalaripayattu is an ancient martial art form which is originated in kerala. Kalari is known as the mother of martial arts in the world. It is believed that Kungfu the world famous martial art is originated from Kalari Payattu.

Founder of Kungfu Bhodi Dharman was an Indian Bhudist and a kalri master. Kalari Payattu has lot of scientific values. It describes about various medicines and traditional treatments.

It is believed that Kalari Payattu was a gift of Lord Parashurama to kerala Bhramins. Later the technique was passed to Ezhava community in and then to Nair community. Kalari is an asset for Kerala cultural tourism.

Style of Kalari Payattu

Kalaripayattu is practised in the place called kalari. Kalaripayattu teacher is known as Kalari Gurukkal. First Kalari payattu will start with the techniques to make the body flexible by different exercises and oil massages.

Kalari teachers will do the oil massage to the students to make their muscles flexible and strong. After the body becomes flexible Kalari payattu Will start with free hand exercise called meypayattu.

After that different types of wooden and metallic weapons are practised in Kalari.  The last stage of kalari is marma Kalari the deadly pressure points of body. Treatments like kalari marma treatment will also practice in kalari.
