Koyikkal palace, built by Umayamma Rani of venad royal family in 16th century. The palace was now in the ownership of Travancore Devasam Bord after the State re-organization.

Main attaraction of the palace is folklore museum which was constructed in 1992 by Kerala government. Important exhibits of folklore museum are wooden water pusher, tribal musical instruments, tribal communication materials etc.
Folklore museum in palace also consists of traditional occupational and household utensils, Theyyam and tullal models, ancient bullock carts. The traditional weapons like spear, arrows and swords are also a part of this museum.
Koyikkal palace numismatic museum
The numismatic museum in palace was taking cared by archeology department of Kerala. This is a place where travelers can find old punch marked coins of India. Venad kingdom coins, cochin coins and Travancore coins are major examples in this group.
The coins during sangam period, ancient roman silver coins are also apart of museum. The coins are scientifically arranged in museum.
Ancient seals, tools, weights, badges are also exhibited in the numismatic museum in palace.
Koyikkal palace history
The palace was built by umayamma rani queen of attingal. Umayamma rani was regent of venad between the period of 1677 and 1684. The palace was official residency of Perekatharvazhi the ruler who hail from princely state of Travancore kingdom.
