In 1789 during the ride of Tippu Sulthan several temples and hindu kingdoms has been attacked and destroyed. So when it is known that there is a possibility that Tippu can attack Guruvayur temple the famous Sree krishna temple , to save idol from Tippu’s attack the Guruvayur temple idol has been brought to Ambalapuzha for safe keeping. After Tippu’s ride idol was taken back to Guruvayur Temple itself. But it is believed that a power of idol stay back in Ambalapuzha Temple so to keep that Krishna power Ambalapuzha Temple is constricted. And now it is a famous Krishna temple in kerala.
